Anti Virus Program - Glossary Term

A computer application that searches data storage for potentially harmful or unauthorised programs. Once found the anti virus program will remove the threat by deleting it or by placing it under quarantine.

The Anti Virus applications also monitor files that are sent to your computer whilst surfing the Internet and using email.
