Contract equipment manufacturer Remploy Electronics has increased the number of its manufacturing sites with permanent IPC J-Standard Certified.
Having passed the IPC examinations, Certified IPC Trainers (CITs) are qualified to train their organisation's workers to IPC-A-610 (PCB assembly) and IPC WHMA-A-620 (cable and wire harness assembly) standards of workmanship. Additionally each of the five sites now has a qualified Application Specialist in the above standards.
This equips them to recognise what constitutes industry-standard workmanship, enabling them to ensure quality levels are maintained consistently for materials leaving the factory.
Remploy Electronics' operations manager, Aled Williams, commented: "Remploy is systematically raising the skill levels at each of its sites. By spreading the expertise of individual sites across the entire organisation, we are better able to move production between locations and hence increase our flexibility and efficiency of operation. This not only enables Remploy to deliver excellent service to its customers but also allows our employees to develop, enjoying more rewarding jobs."
Julie Haynes (pictured), the most recently qualified CIT, has already begun providing application specialist training for soldering in Barking. She is passing on the expertise gained at her external training course where she topped the class with a 91% exam mark.

Remploy is the UK's leading supplier of employment opportunities for disabled people. With over 80 factories in the UK, Remploy supplies half the top British companies with goods and services, turning over more than £250 million annually. The company's manufacturing activities range from motor and electronic assemblies, through furniture, to printing and packaging. Services include IT recycling, office support and CCTV monitoring.
Remploy Electronics is a standalone division created in 2003 to focus entirely on providing manufacturing services to the electronics sector. It has five dedicated production sites offering printed circuit board (PCB), cable and wiring harness, and electro-mechanical assembly.
