Keeping your end of the bargain
All we ask is that you make your minimum repayment on time each month, and don't exceed your credit limit. Then 0% interest on purchases is yours for three months after the date your account is opened; and 0% interest on balance transfers is your until 1st March 2006. Otherwise, your balance will revert to your standard interest rate.
We reserve the right to refuse a balance transfer or to limit the amount that can be transferred, in any case the minimum is £250 and the maximum will be £5,000 or 90% of your credit limit, whichever is lower, subject to the available credit limit on your account. Should we honour amounts in excess of your balance transfer limit they will be debited to your account. Those amounts over £5,000 will be charged at 6.9% interest p.a. until paid in full, with no handling fee. A 2% handling fee will be applied to each 0% interest balance transfer you make, up to a maximum of £50.
Can I transfer a balance today?
You can transfer another credit or store card balance in your name to your Barclaycard at any time, as long as you have the funds available within your existing credit limit. If you'd like to transfer a balance larger than your current credit limit would allow, or want to ensure that you still have funds for new purchases, then simply call us and we'll consider increasing your limit.
Until the transferred balance appears on your monthly statement you should continue to make payments to your other lender. Please note that we are unable to accept transfers from cards or loans issued by companies within the Barclays Group.
How much can I transfer?
As you'd expect, there is a limit to the amount that can be transferred at a promotional rate. The minimum amount is £100 for existing customers and £250 for new customers. The maximum amount will be on the page detailing the balance transfer offer.
What rate do I pay?
We regularly offer promotional rates to our existing customers. These can differ from month to month and could be for a fixed period of time (e.g. 6, 9 or 12 months), or until the transferred balance has been repaid in full. The rate and period of any promotional offer can be found on the page detailing the balance transfer offer. If a fee is going to be charged, the amount will also be advised.
There's no interest-free period on balance transfers as they are existing debts being consolidated onto a different account. Therefore, you will be charged interest at the promotional rate from the day the balance is transferred. If you are offered a rate for a fixed period of time, any balance remaining at the end of the period will revert to your standard purchase rate. See your account Terms and Conditions for information on the applicable rate.
How much will I have to repay each month?
Your monthly statement will tell you the minimum amount that you need to pay and the date that payment is due. You can then choose to pay either this amount or more if you prefer, each payment reducing your transferred balance first before any standard purchases or cash withdrawals.
Your standard balances will increase by the amount you spend each month but will start to reduce after your transferred balance has been paid in full, or the promotional period has ended. Promotional rates will be repriced to your standard purchase rate if minimum payments are not received each month, or you exceed your credit limit in any month. This is in line with your Barclaycard conditions.
Please remember that our promotional offers all have offer close dates, so make sure you apply before the offer end date (found on the page detailing the balance transfer offer) to benefit from a specific rate. Barclaycard reserves the right to refuse a balance transfer.
