RoHS compliant ETX-GX2 module with Ultra Low Voltage Geode™

-ACAL Microsystems - Embedded / Bus Based Computers

The new Geode™ETX-GX2 module from ACAL Microsystems, is a RoHS compliant, drop in replacement for non RoHS GX1 designs.

The ETX-GX2 delivers more than double the performance of it's predecessor, GX1 whilst utilising the minimum levels of power that industry has come to expect from Geode designs. These features make the GX2 ideal for fan-less and deeply embedded applications.

ETX-GX2

The ETX-GX2 cores on offer are either an AMD Geode™ GX533, with a CPU power consumption of a lowly 1.1W or the AMD Geode™ GX466 which use even less power at 0.9W. Both DDR based SODIMMs and soldered memory are supported on the ETX-GX2 which promotes long time availability and stable pricing for SODIMM parts in long production life projects when compared to SDRAM based SODIMMs. 128MB or 256MB memory can be soldered and/or inserted on board in the 200 pin socket which will accept up to 512MB DDR SODIMMs.

Incorporated on board are a VGA controller, an EIDE controller supporting PIO and UDMA modes, 4 USB ports, two serial and one parallel ports (SPP/ECP/EPP) shared with FDD, one PS2 keyboard/mouse interface, AC97 audio and interface and power management functions. Also on board are an Intel based 10/100BaseT Ethernet port, watchdog timer, an AC97 Audio Codec and support for CRT and LVDS based displays.

The ETX-GX2 fully supports PCI and ISA busses and embedded features such as RS232 console redirection and CMOS EEPROM backup for BIOS settings and battery-less operation

The ETX-GX2 Computer on module form factor (95mm x 144mm) coupled with the ETX prototype / evaluation board promote short time to market solutions for designers.
