So now we are seeing IT departments in companies large and small re-branding themselves as IS departments. But will a change from Technology to Service really reflect the change in the balance of power?
The Nordic countries have been in the lead of the telecom business for the last 5 years. The market penetration of mobile telephones for example is the highest in the world and the infrastructure of broadband connections is another area which is booming in the Nordic countries now.
In whichever consumer Internet magazine you care to open you will find an article on broadband. It will, most likely, complain of the lack of availability and will denigrate the telecommunications service providers for their lack of commitment to always on, virtually free high speed Internet access over which users may share pirated versions of audio and video products. So, is there any substance to these complaints and if so how could they be resolved?
